BEEGIE ADAIR (1937-2022)

Beegie Adair (December 11, 1937 – January 23, 2022) was an American jazz pianist known for her elegant and smooth interpretations of jazz standards. Born in Cave City, Kentucky, she developed a passion for music at a young age and studied at Western Kentucky University.

Adair built a successful career as a session musician in Nashville, working with artists across jazz, country, and pop. She later formed the Beegie Adair Trio, which became renowned for its sophisticated arrangements and warm, melodic style.

Her discography includes over 35 albums, featuring tributes to jazz legends such as Frank Sinatra and Nat King Cole, as well as timeless collections of love songs and holiday classics.

Her playing was admired for its lyrical phrasing and refined touch, making her one of the most beloved pianists in contemporary jazz. Beyond performing, Adair was also a dedicated educator and mentor. Her legacy lives on through her recordings, which continue to captivate jazz lovers worldwide.
