Jurre Haanstra (born February 27, 1952) is a Dutch composer, arranger, and conductor, known for his work in film, television, and jazz music. The son of acclaimed filmmaker Bert Haanstra, he grew up in a creative environment and developed a passion for music from an early age.
Haanstra studied at the Hilversum Conservatory, specializing in jazz piano and composition. He gained recognition as an arranger and conductor, working with renowned orchestras and artists in the Netherlands and beyond. His work spans multiple genres, from jazz and pop to classical and film scoring.
He has composed music for various Dutch films and television series, following in his father’s cinematic footsteps but with his own musical voice. Additionally, he has collaborated with prominent musicians and contributed to numerous orchestral and big band projects.
With his rich harmonies and expressive arrangements, Haanstra remains a respected figure in Dutch music. His ability to blend jazz and orchestral elements continues to influence contemporary composers and musicians.
