Berdien Stenberg (born April 30, 1957, in Almelo, Netherlands) is a Dutch flutist known for her blend of classical and popular music. She gained international fame in the 1980s with her hit single Rondo Russo (1983), a lively adaptation of a piece by Gioachino Rossini, which became a chart success in multiple countries.
Stenberg studied at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague and developed a distinctive style that bridged classical music and light pop arrangements. Her albums, including Musical Landscapes and Amour Pour Amour, showcased her virtuosity and ability to bring classical compositions to a broader audience.
Throughout her career, she has collaborated with renowned artists and orchestras while performing worldwide. Besides her musical career, Stenberg has also been involved in politics, serving as a member of the Dutch parliament for the Christian Democratic Appeal (CDA) in the 1990s.
With her elegant flute playing and crossover appeal, Berdien Stenberg remains one of the Netherlands’ most successful instrumental artists, continuing to inspire audiences with her refined yet accessible interpretations of classical and contemporary melodies.
