BERDIEN STENBERG (1957)

Berdien Stenberg (born April 30, 1957, in Almelo, Netherlands) is a Dutch flutist known for her blend of classical and popular music. She gained international fame in the 1980s with her hit single Rondo Russo (1983), a lively adaptation of a piece by Gioachino Rossini, which became a chart success in multiple countries.

Stenberg studied at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague and developed a distinctive style that bridged classical music and light pop arrangements. Her albums, including Musical Landscapes and Amour Pour Amour, showcased her virtuosity and ability to bring classical compositions to a broader audience.

Throughout her career, she has collaborated with renowned artists and orchestras while performing worldwide. Besides her musical career, Stenberg has also been involved in politics, serving as a member of the Dutch parliament for the Christian Democratic Appeal (CDA) in the 1990s.
