RYAN RICKS (1985)

Ryan Ricks, born Rik Mol on May 5, 1985, in Goes, Netherlands, is a Dutch trumpeter known for his versatility in jazz, pop, and funk. He began playing the trumpet at age eight and later studied at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, where he developed his passion for jazz, influenced by musicians like Wynton Marsalis.

In 2008, under his birth name, he released his debut album “What’s On Tonight?!”, which showcased his jazz influences. He later gained mainstream recognition through his collaboration with Frans Bauer on the hit song “Dat Kind Met Zijn Trompet” under the alias Angelo. His second album, “Funk On Me” (2010), marked a shift towards funk and soul.

In 2012, he rebranded as Ryan Ricks and released a self-titled album. His notable works include “Mambo Italiano” (with Yannick Bovy), “Loco In Acapulco”, and “El Viento”.

Ricks has collaborated with artists like Michael Bolton, Candy Dulfer, and Basement Jaxx, solidifying his reputation as a dynamic and innovative trumpeter.
