Secret Garden is an Irish-Norwegian new-age musical duo formed in 1994, consisting of Irish violinist and singer Fionnuala Sherry (born 20 September 1962) and Norwegian composer, arranger, and pianist Rolf Løvland (born 19 April 1955).
They rose to international fame in 1995 by winning the Eurovision Song Contest for Norway with the predominantly instrumental piece “Nocturne”, the only such entry to ever claim victory in the contest’s history.
Their debut album, Songs from a Secret Garden (1995), capitalized on this success, selling over a million copies worldwide, achieving platinum status in Norway and Korea, and gold in several other countries. It spent two years on the Billboard New Age charts.
Blending Celtic influences with evocative, melodic compositions, Secret Garden has released over 11 studio albums, including White Stones (1997), Dawn of a New Century (1999), and Once in a Red Moon (2002). Their signature song, “You Raise Me Up,” has been covered by more than 1,000 artists, including Josh Groban and Westlife, becoming one of the most recorded songs in modern history.
With over 5 million albums sold, billions of streams, and extensive global touring, Secret Garden remains a leading force in new-age music, celebrated for their emotional, instrumental storytelling.
